This Christmas fruit salad is a sweet and playful treat of a dish perfect for enjoying during the holidays. Just plan ahead, as it needs to chill for 24 hours before serving.

Ingredients
3 large egg yolks, beaten
3 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups heavy whipping cream, whipped
3 cups miniature marshmallows
2 cups halved green grapes
1 can (20 ounces) pineapple tidbits, drained
1 can (11 ounces) mandarin oranges, drained
1 jar (10 ounces) red maraschino cherries, drained and sliced
1 cup chopped pecans
3 tablespoons lemon juice
Instructions
1 Make the dressing
2 In a large saucepan, combine the egg yolks, water, vinegar and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and reaches 160°F. Remove the pan from the heat and let the blend cool, then fold in the whipped cream.
3 Combine and dress the salad, then chill
4 In a large bowl, combine the marshmallows, grapes, pineapple, mandarin oranges, cherries, pecans and lemon juice. Add the dressing, and toss the salad to coat everything evenly. Cover the bowl and refrigerate the salad for 24 hours. If desired, top the salad with additional marshmallows, grapes and cherries just before serving.
