Apple Crumble

A fall favorite, this easy apple crumble feeds a crowd. Don’t forget to buy some vanilla ice cream!

Ingredients
8 cups sliced peeled tart apples (about 6 medium)
2-1/4 cups packed brown sugar, divided
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 cup butter, softened
2 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup finely chopped walnuts, divided
Vanilla ice cream, optional
Instructions
1 Assemble the apple base
2 Preheat the oven to 350°F. Place the sliced apples in a greased 13x9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle 1/4 cup brown sugar evenly on top. Sprinkle the cinnamon evenly on top.
3 Make the topping
4 In a bowl, use a hand mixer or stand mixer to cream the butter and remaining brown sugar together. Editor’s Tip: Cream the butter and brown sugar together on medium-high speed until the mixture is airy and fluffy and the color has lightened a bit. This can take around five minutes. Beat in the eggs. Then stir in the all-purpose flour and 1/2 cup walnuts.
5 Smooth on the topping
6 Spread the topping over the apples. Sprinkle the remaining walnuts evenly over the top.
7 Bake the crumble
8 Bake the apple crumble until the apples are tender, 45 to 55 minutes. Serve the crumble warm from the oven, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of each serving if desired.
