Maple Cookies
Maple Cookies
10 min5 servings

These maple cookies are a baker's dream. They're a bit different from the norm but, oh, so easy to love!

Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon maple flavoring
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups white baking chips
1 cup chopped pecans
MAPLE GLAZE:
1/3 cup butter, cubed
1-3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
1/3 cup maple syrup
1/4 teaspoon maple flavoring
Instructions
1 Make the dough
2 Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, cream the butter with the granulated and brown sugars until light and fluffy, five to seven minutes. Beat in the eggs and maple flavoring. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually beat the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Stir in the baking chips and pecans. Editor's Tip: You can substitute pure maple syrup for maple flavoring, but you will end up with a milder maple flavor, as the extract has a more concentrated taste.
3 Drop the dough onto baking sheets
4 Drop the dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Editor's Tip: You may want to use a second spoon to scrape the batter from your scooping spoon. Investing in a cookie scoop—which looks like a smaller ice cream scoop—makes the job even easier.
5 Bake the maple syrup cookies
6 Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on pans for two minutes, and then remove to wire racks to cool completely.
7 Prep the glaze
8 In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from the heat, then gradually add the confectioners' sugar, maple syrup and maple flavoring. Beat until smooth.
9 Glaze the cookies
10 Drizzle the glaze over the cookies and let them dry completely. Store the cookies between pieces of waxed paper in airtight containers. Editor's Tip: You can also use parchment to store the cookies.
