Our sloppy joe pasta combines two things families love: sloppy joe flavor and pasta. This dish is loaded with savory goodness and hearty enough to be a full meal, as it's packed with protein, thanks to the ground beef and cottage cheese. Dig in!
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 envelope sloppy joe mix
1 cup water
1 can (8 ounces) tomato sauce
1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
1 package (7 ounces) small shell pasta, cooked and drained
1 cup 4% cottage cheese
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
1Cook the meat
2In a Dutch oven, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it's no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain the liquid from the pan.
3Add the flavorings and pasta
4Stir in the sloppy joe mix, water, tomato sauce and tomato paste, and heat them through. Remove the Dutch oven from the heat and stir in the cooked pasta.
5Fill the baking dish
6Preheat the oven to 350°F. Spoon half the mixture into a greased 2-1/2-quart baking dish. Top that with cottage cheese, then add the remaining pasta mixture. Sprinkle the cheddar cheese over the top.
7Bake the casserole
8Bake the dish, uncovered, for 30 to 35 minutes or until the filling is bubbly and the cheese on top is melted.
