Caramel Chocolate Bars
Caramel Chocolate Bars
20 min1 servings

Chocolate, caramel sauce and chopped pecans form the irresistibly chewy layer at the heart of these decadent oatmeal caramel chocolate bars.

Ingredients
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
2 cups quick-cooking oats
1-1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1-1/2 cups cold butter, cubed
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
1 jar (12 ounces) caramel ice cream topping
Instructions
1 Make the oat mixture
2 Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of the flour, the oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly. Set half of this mixture aside for the topping.
3 Bake the first layer
4 Press the remaining crumb mixture into a greased 13x9-inch baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes.
5 Add the chocolate and pecans
6 Sprinkle the chocolate chips and chopped pecans over the baked crumb layer.
7 Add the caramel topping
8 Whisk the caramel topping and remaining 1/4 cup flour until smooth, then drizzle this over the top.
9 Finish with the crumb mixture
10 Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture over the top, and bake for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden brown. Let the bars cool on a wire rack for two hours before cutting.
